A unique book for Cocker Spaniel lovers —

Albert Staehle and Cover Boy Butch is the heart-warming story of artist Albert Staehle (1899-1974) and his beloved Cocker Spaniel models for his popular Butch illustrations.

Part 1 is the biography of the principal characters with personal memories and photos provided by the artist’s wife Marjory Houston Staehle.

Part 2 offers 10 categories of Staehle and Butch collectibles, including Staehle's 1939 New York World's Fair poster and his Smokey Bear posters.  All commercially available Butch items are shown: magazine covers, posters, calendars and playing cards, figurines (Hagen-Renaker and Goebel), and toys (Atlas Manufacturing and Steiff plush toys and Saalfield jigsaw puzzles and coloring book).  Also shown are scarce and one-of-a-kind Butch items.  Estimated values provided.  Plus over 300 black and white photos and a 16-page section of color photos, a comprehensive annotated bibliography, and a detailed index.

I am pleased to have this opportunity to share my extensive collection and research on Albert Staehle and Butch with other Cocker Spaniel lovers and collectors.

This is a limited edition (500 copies).
